As the product scaled, the lack of infrastructure standardization meant that spinning up new environments took days, severely hampering developer velocity and overall business agility.
I was tasked with orchestrating the end-to-end migration of over 500TB of legacy product data and a complex web of 500+ active microservices to Alibaba Cloud. This required meticulous planning to ensure data integrity, service discovery, and minimal disruption to the active user base.
I utilized Terraform to write the entire new infrastructure as code (IaC), transforming manual cloud console clicks into reproducible, auditable, and version-controlled environments. I handled the bootstrapping of new Kubernetes clusters, managed complex state files, and configured ingress controllers to route traffic seamlessly across the new cloud boundaries.
The migration was a massive success, achieving zero downtime for critical customer-facing applications during the final DNS cutover phase. Furthermore, the strategic move and improved resource allocation reduced overall monthly infrastructure expenditures by over 30%.
